What people ask us first.
Collected from the conversations we have with sellers and with financing partners. If your question is not here, we will simply answer it by mail.
About Adefin.
- What exactly is Adefin?
Adefin builds the infrastructure under financing and leasing: the solvability check, the file that puts itself together, and the link between the seller and their financing partners.
We sell nothing ourselves and we lend nothing ourselves. We make sure the two parties who do reach a decision faster, with the same figures in front of them.
- So are you a lender?
No. Adefin does not lend and carries no risk. We are the layer in between: we build the file, we check it and we put it in front of the financing partners the seller works with. The decision, the rate and the contract stay with them.
- Is this only for one kind of asset?
No. The model and the file are not tied to one kind of asset: machines, equipment, installations or fit-outs take the same route. What you sell sets the amounts and the residuals, not how it works.
- Which languages does it work in?
Dutch, French and English, formally addressed. That holds for the console, for the portal your customer walks through and for the emails that go out of it.
- What does it cost?
We agree that when you connect, because it depends on how you come in and on the volume you expect. Tell us how you work today and you get a proposal rather than a price list that does not fit you.
If you sell.
- How fast do I get an answer?
The solvability check runs while you are still typing: an enterprise number or personal details are enough. The offers that come out depend on your financing partners' rate cards, not on a queue.
- Can I keep working with my own financing partners?
Yes. Your panel is your panel, your own captive included. We compute with their rate cards and show only what is possible; who you add or leave out is your call.
- And if a file does not come together first time?
You get the way there with it: which element pulls the score down, and what a personal guarantee, a higher first instalment or a missing document would be worth. So the conversation with your customer does not end at a verdict.
- Does my customer have to create an account?
No. The buyer arrives through a link in your branding and follows their file without a password. What they upload lands straight in the same file you see.
- We sell from several outlets. Do we see that together?
Yes. Every application from every outlet sits in one dashboard, with acceptance rate and turnaround per financing partner. Rights follow the role: an outlet sees its own files, your head office sees all of them.
If you finance.
- What happens to our data?
Your score model, your rate cards and your decisions stay yours. Another partner does not see them, not even in a file you both appear in.
For the personal data in the file we are a processor: with a processing agreement, hosting inside the European Union and retention periods per type of data.
- Can we use our own score model?
Yes. Factors on or off, each with its own weight and its own translation from value to strength, and knock-outs you set yourself. Your model sits next to the standard one, so you can compare what a different weighting would do to your portfolio.
- How do we connect it to our systems?
Through the API, with a key per source, and webhooks that report every status change back, signed. Anyone who prefers a screen uses the portal. You replace nothing.
- Does the decision stay with us?
Always. Adefin builds the file, checks it and puts it in front of you. Approving, declining or setting a condition stays your decision, and so do the rate and the contract.
- Which files reach us?
That is yours to set. Your rate cards and your acceptance rules, terms, residual values, price windows and knock-outs, filter the applications at the gate. What fits inside them reaches you, and which of those files you want stays your call.
- Do we know who delivered what?
Whoever enters the file identifies with itsme. Every document carries who delivered it and when, and every signature is tied to the version that was signed.
Data, standards and decisions.
- Where does the data sit?
Inside the European Union. Transfers outside the EEA run under the standard contractual clauses, and what we process for you is in the contract, not only in a setting.
- Which standards do you follow?
We are working towards ISO/IEC 27001 and 27701, ISO/IEC 42001 for the AI management system and SOC 2 Type II. On top of that come GDPR, the EU AI Act, DORA through our financial partners and eIDAS for qualified electronic signatures.
- Does a model decide on a file?
No. Models propose, people decide. Findings from the integrity check and from the research are never scored automatically: they stay open for assessment, with their source attached.
- How long do you keep everything?
Set per type of data, with deletion or anonymisation when the period runs out. Documents get a fingerprint, so it stands later which version was signed.
- Can we still explain a decision years later?
That is what it is built for. Every source with the time it was queried, the version of the score model that produced the score, who changed which parameter and when, and every step as its own event with its time and its actor.
- What does the AI actually do?
The groundwork: query the sources, read the documents that came in, pull the figures out, look up what is known about the company and its directors, and write the reasoning behind the file. Every finding carries its source, the time and the quote.
Weighing and deciding, it does not. That stays with the financing partner's score model and with their analyst.
- Do you use our data to train models?
No. Your files and your decisions are not used to train models, and certainly not for another partner. What we process for you and what for is in the processing agreement.
The score model does not learn by itself either. Weights change only when someone changes them, and every change is logged with the previous value beside it.
Getting started.
- What do I need to do to start?
Tell us who you work with and how your files run today. We then set up an environment in your branding and, depending on your side, with your score model or the panel you work with.
- Do I have to install anything first?
No. You can start in the console or in the portal without anything changing at your end. If you want to connect, you get a key for a test environment before anything goes live.
- Can I see it on my own files first?
That is the point. A demo on a made-up file says little: bring an offer or an application from your own practice and it simply runs through.
A question that is not here?
Ask it. You get an answer from someone building the thing, not from a form.
